FIFA has announced a record prize fund of $727 million for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking a 50 percent increase on the prize money distributed at the 2022 tournament. The expanded fund reflects the tournament’s new 48-team format and FIFA’s broader revenue growth.

How the Prize Money Will Be Shared

Of the total amount, $655 million will be shared among the 48 participating nations based on performance.

The World Cup winners will earn $50 million, while the runners-up will receive $33 million. Teams eliminated at the group stage will each be paid $9 million.

In addition, every qualified nation will receive $1.5 million to cover preparation and participation costs.
