UEFA Sanctions Bayern Munich, Others For Matchday Offences

Bayern Munich were the most heavily penalised club in UEFA’s latest disciplinary rulings announced on Wednesday, receiving fines totalling 116,000 euros and a partial stadium closure for their next UEFA Champions League home match.

Bayern Munich Sanctions

The sanctions stem from blocking passageways and lighting fireworks during their match against Sporting. Sectors 111 to 114 of the Allianz Arena will be closed when Bayern hosts Union Saint-Gilloise on January 21.

Additional fines were imposed following their away loss to Arsenal, including penalties for crowd disturbances, throwing objects, and displaying inappropriate messages.

Eintracht Frankfurt Sanctioned

Elsewhere, UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body activated a previously suspended sanction against Eintracht Frankfurt. The ruling bans Frankfurt from selling tickets to away supporters for their next match and imposes a fine of 38,000 euros.

UEFA said the sanctions relate to incidents during Frankfurt’s 2-1 defeat to Barcelona at Camp Nou last week, where supporters were accused of throwing objects, lighting fireworks, and causing property damage. They have also been given 30 days to contact Barcelona regarding repairs to damaged toilets in the away section, ahead of their upcoming trip to Qarabag.
