Arsenal stormed into the FA Cup fifth round for the first time in six years after scoring four goals inside the opening 30 minutes to sweep aside League One side Wigan.
The breakthrough came in the 11th minute when Eberechi Eze split the defence with a precise through pass for Noni Madueke, who finished confidently past Sam Tickle. Seven minutes later, Eze again turned provider, setting up Gabriel Martinelli to drill home and double the lead.
Four Goals In 30 Minutes
Arsenal’s third arrived in the 23rd minute when Jack Hunt turned the ball into his own net under pressure following sharp interplay between Bukayo Saka and Madueke.
Saka, drafted into the starting XI after Riccardo Calafiori was injured in the warm-up, operated in an unfamiliar central midfield role.
Christian Nørgaard assisted Gabriel Jesus in the 27th minute, with the striker delicately chipping over Tickle to cap a devastating opening spell.
Rotation And Second-Half Control
Wigan rarely threatened but came close when Joe Taylor forced an excellent save from Kepa Arrizabalaga. Substitute Viktor Gyokeres struck the post in the second half as Arsenal maintained control.
Mikel Arteta handed home debuts to 16-year-old Marli Salmon and 19-year-old goalkeeper Tommy Setford as he rotated his squad comfortably.
What Next
Arsenal return to Premier League action on Wednesday against Wolves, while Wigan resume League One duties at home to Luton.
