Sexyy Red Says She’s Drake’s Successor In Hip-Hop

US rapper Sexyy Red has declared herself the successor to Drake in hip-hop.

The St. Louis artiste made the statement on X following a fan discussion about rap’s “Big Three” and potential torch-bearers. The post suggested J. Cole could pass his legacy to JID, while Kendrick Lamar might hand over to Baby Keem. It then questioned who Drake would choose as his successor.

Sexyy Red responded directly, writing, “It’s me yal!” alongside a smiling selfie, positioning herself as next in line after the Canadian star.

Drake’s Dominant Legacy In Hip-Hop

Drake remains one of the most commercially successful rappers of his generation. He has dominated global charts for more than a decade, with multiple platinum albums and numerous Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles.

He is also consistently ranked among the most-streamed artists worldwide.

Sexyy Red’s Rising Mainstream Profile

Sexyy Red has gained mainstream attention over the past two years with viral singles such as “Pound Town” and “Rich Baby Daddy”.

Her rise has included entries on the Billboard Hot 100 and performances at major festivals, including Rolling Loud and Lollapalooza.

She previously collaborated with Drake on the 2023 single “Rich Baby Daddy”, further cementing her growing presence in the hip-hop scene.
