Barcelona claimed a 4-2 Champions League victory over Slavia Prague on Wednesday. Goals from Fermin Lopez, Dani Olmo, and Robert Lewandowski sealed the win for the visitors.
Early Slavia Shock and First-Half Drama
The hosts shocked Barcelona with an early breakthrough in the 10th minute, capitalising on a well-worked corner. Tomas Holes flicked the ball across the goal for Vasil Kusej to force it over the line under pressure.
Barcelona gradually settled and drew level in the 34th minute. Lopez fired a sharp-angled effort past Jindrich Stanek at the near post. Eight minutes later, Lopez struck again with a precise finish from the edge of the area to give Barcelona the lead.
Slavia responded almost immediately. Lewandowski inadvertently turned the ball into his own net while defending a corner, sending both sides into the break locked at 2-2.
Second-Half Control and Decisive Goals
Barcelona dominated the second half and were rewarded in the 64th minute. Substitute Dani Olmo unleashed a thunderous strike from outside the box into the top corner.
Lewandowski made amends for his earlier error six minutes later, reacting quickly to poke home a cross from substitute Marcus Rashford.
Post-Match Reaction and Standings
“We knew it would be a difficult match with the cold weather and the pressure they put on us,” Lopez told reporters. “It was tough, but we managed to come back and win.”
The result lifts Barcelona to ninth in the standings on 13 points, while Slavia remain third from bottom with just three points.
