Kylian Mbappe Masterclass Helps Real Madrid Edge Olympiacos In Seven-Goal Thriller

Kylian Mbappe delivered a breathtaking individual performance on Wednesday as he scored all four goals in Real Madrid’s 4-3 victory over Olympiacos.

Olympiacos struck first in the 8th minute when Chiquinho finished a flowing move with a precise shot from 20 yards.

Mbappe brought Madrid level in the 22nd minute, racing onto a perfectly weighted pass over the defence from Vinicius Junior before driving a low effort through the legs of goalkeeper Kostas Tzolakis. Just two minutes later, he doubled his tally with a firm header into the corner from an Arda Guler delivery.

The France captain sealed his hat trick moments later in the 29th minute, running clear again and calmly sliding the ball past Tzolakis. His hat-trick came in a span of six minutes and 42 seconds, making it the second-fastest hat-trick in Champions League history. Only Mohamed Salah’s quick-fire treble for Liverpool against Rangers in 2022 was faster.

Olympiacos responded early in the 52nd minute through Mehdi Taremi, who had replaced the injured Chiquinho. The substitute powered in a header past stand-in goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, who was deputising for Thibaut Courtois after the Belgian fell ill before the trip.

In the 60th minute, Mbappe scored his fourth goal following sharp work from Vinicius down the left flank. The strike moved him to nine goals in five Champions League matches, three clear of Victor Osimhen in the scoring race.

Ayoub El Kaabi pulled another goal back for Olympiacos with nine minutes remaining, but Madrid held firm to secure their fourth win in five group games.

“We showed great character,” Mbappé said afterward. “Even when things were difficult, we kept pushing.”
