Jannik Sinner successfully defended his ATP Finals crown on Sunday. Sinner defeated Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets 7-6 (4), 7-5 to win the season-ending tournament.
In a classic showdown between the top two players, Sinner held off a fast-start from Alcaraz, winning a tense first-set tiebreak with a decisive lob and subsequent ace. In the second set, Alcaraz broke early but Sinner fought back firmly and sealed victory on his rival’s serve.
“It has been a really long week. It was a brilliant atmosphere here, it was almost like being at a football match,” Sinner said. “I’m really happy to have given something positive to all of you.”
With the win, Sinner extended his indoor hard-court winning run to 30+ matches.
Alcaraz, who will finish the season as year-end No. 1 despite the loss, praised Sinner and kept the rivalry alive with a light-hearted message.
“Hopefully you’re going to be ready for next year,” he said with a smile. “Because I will be ready.”
Sinner’s triumph caps a stellar 2025 season — which featured Grand Slam victories at the Australian Open and Wimbledon.
The victory also earned him a $5.07 million in prize money.
