Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr. has publicly apologized for angrily walking off the pitch following his substitution in Sunday’s 2–1 El Clásico victory over Barcelona.
He was replaced in the 71st minute by Rodrygo. He left immediately for the dressing room without acknowledging the crowd.
“Today I want to apologize to all Real Madrid fans for my reaction when I was substituted in El Clásico,” Vinicius tweeted on X. “As I have already done in person … I also want to apologize again to my teammates, the club, and the president.”
He said the outburst came from his passion for the club. “Sometimes my passion gets the better of me because I always want to win and help my team,” he explained.
