Toyin Abraham’s Oversabi Aunty Crosses ₦1 Billion

Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has achieved a groundbreaking landmark with her directorial debut, Oversabi Aunty, which has officially surpassed the ₦1 billion mark at the box office. As of late January 2026, the film has grossed ₦1.02 billion, securing its place as the fourth highest-earning Nollywood movie of all time and the first ever directorial debut.

Storyline And Star-Studded Cast

Released on December 19, 2025, Oversabi Aunty is a comedy-drama written, produced, and headlined by Abraham herself. The story centres on a zealous church usher whose self-appointed mission to “fix” everyone’s moral shortcomings spirals into chaos. Her relentless crusade disrupts family ties, igniting hilarious conflicts and emotional turmoil that peak during a tense wedding introduction.

The ensemble cast includes Mike Ezuruonye, Queen Nwokoye, Enioluwa Adeoluwa, Tana Adelana, Ngozi Ezeonu, Odunlade Adekola, and Jemima Osunde, blending humor with relatable themes of family, religion, tribalism, and personal growth.

Emotional Response From Toyin Abraham

Reacting to the achievement, Abraham shared an emotional message on X (formerly Twitter), expressing gratitude and excitement over the success of Oversabi Aunty. She described the film as her first directorial project and thanked God, her fans known as Toyintitans, FilmOne, and everyone involved in the production:

“….My first directorial project. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Thank you JESUS, thank you my amazing Toyintitans, thank you FilmOne, thank you to everyone that has collaborated in making the movie a success. I am short of words….”

A Legacy of Box Office Success

  • Alakada: Bad and Boujee (₦500.6 million)
  • The Ghost and the Tout
  • The Ghost and the Tout Too
