The Super Falcons have secured qualification for the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations 2026. This came after defeating the Benin Republic Women’s National Team 3–1 on aggregate in the final qualifying round.
The return leg in Abeokuta opened with a blistering strike from Ashleigh Plumptre, which set the tone.
In the 12th minute, Plumptre surged forward and unleashed a powerful left-footed shot from the edge of the penalty area that beat the Benin goalkeeper. The Falcons held control for much of the first half, dominating possession and keeping Benin on the back foot.
Benin responded in the 61st minute as Yasmine Djibril pounced on a defensive error, curling a low finish into the bottom corner to pull the score level in the match and reduce the aggregate deficit. The Super Falcons remained composed, returning to control the tempo and closing the game without conceding again.
Earlier, in the first leg played in Togo, Nigeria secured a 2-0 victory, laying the foundation for their success. With an aggregate score of 3–1, the Falcons secured their 16th consecutive appearance at the biennial tournament.
