Slimcase, has voiced his concern over what he describes as the growing “boredom” within the Afrobeats scene.

Speaking to HIPTV, the singer and hype-man criticised the continuous rush among artistes to release multiple albums each year, saying it has made the genre lose its natural flavour.

According to him, many artistes are driven by fear and pressure to remain relevant, resulting in an overflow of songs that lack originality.

“Because artistes want to be there forever, they want to have constant hits,” he said. “They don’t want to try other things; they just want to keep dropping albums. How many fans do you even have that you’re releasing six albums a year? When it becomes too much, it gets boring.”

Slimcase further added that Afrobeats is now “diluted and no longer organic,” describing the industry as being driven by pressure rather than passion.

He noted that unlike many of his colleagues, he releases music once or twice a year at a pace he compared to the likes of Rihanna and Adele, who take time to create timeless records.

“Afrobeats is becoming boring. You guys should relax, nobody is going to forget you,” he urged fellow artists.
