Singer-songwriter Sia is getting a major win in her divorce as a judge denies her ex-husband Daniel Bernad’s emergency custody request.
According to court papers, the judge said Daniel’s claims were not new and had already been addressed in August when they agreed on temporary custody. That agreement gave Sia primary custody of their one-year-old son, Somersault Wonder Bernad, with Daniel having supervised visits.
Daniel had asked for full custody, saying Sia was a danger to their child due to alleged drug use. His motion was denied after the court found no new evidence to support changing the existing custody arrangement.
Sia’s lawyer, Laura Wasser, said Daniel’s limited visitation was linked to a police investigation into alleged child pornography. That case was later closed with no arrest or charges. Daniel denied the claims and accused Sia of setting him up to reduce his access to their child.
Sia said she has been sober for more than six months and regularly agrees to drug testing. She added that her past struggles with addiction happened fifteen years ago.
The “Unstoppable” singer filed for divorce in March after two years of marriage. The latest ruling keeps Sia in charge of their son’s care as the divorce process continues in court.
