Shakira has been honoured with Billboard’s inaugural Global Touring Icon Award for her record-breaking Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour.
The tour’s director, Marty Hom, presented the award. He described Shakira as an artiste deeply committed to delivering the best possible performances for her global fans.
Shakira, who received the news backstage during rehearsals in Cali, Colombia, expressed gratitude to her entire touring team. She thanked her dancers, band, and crew. “They work as hard as I do,” she said. “It’s been the best tour of my life, just as we dreamt it.”
According to Billboard Boxscore, the Live Nation-produced tour grossed $327.4 million across 64 of 82 dates, selling 2.5 million tickets. With record-breaking attendance at Mexico City’s Estadio GNP Seguros, the tour is the highest-grossing Latin tour ever by a woman artiste.
