A late penalty from Dominik Szoboszlai handed Liverpool a 1–0 away win against Inter Milan on Tuesday.
Despite long periods of possession, Liverpool struggled to create clear chances. A close-range header from Ibrahima Konaté was ruled out. This was after a VAR review found a handball earlier in the build-up involving striker Hugo Ekitike.
The decisive moment came in the 88th minute. Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni was penalised for pulling substitute Florian Wirtz’s shirt. This gave Liverpool a chance. Szoboszlai stepped up and converted the penalty calmly.
The victory lifts Liverpool to eighth in the group standings, level on points with Inter but trailing on goal difference.
The win also comes amid off-field tension, with star winger Mohamed Salah absent after a public falling-out with coach Arne Slot last week.
