Singer and songwriter Harrysong has spoken about balancing fame, family while sharing insights into his cultural beliefs on marriage and his forthcoming body of work, The Utterbox Project.
In an interview with HIPTV, the Delta State-born artiste reflected on how he has learnt to manage the pressures of fame and the need to stay grounded.
“I learn how to balance both songs and family. You have to learn as you are growing in the job,” Harrysong said.
The “Reggae Blues” crooner, who has previously opened up about facing depression and emotional breakdowns, explained that he now finds peace by focusing on what truly matters to his craft and his family.
Addressing his widely discussed remark, “I’m not sorry I’m polygamous,” Harrysong clarified that his stance comes from his Ijaw heritage and African upbringing.
“I am an Ijaw man, and we are African. I witnessed the blessings of polygamy. Some say there are curses in it, but we live like one big happy family,” he said.
According to him, people often misunderstand his statement because they interpret polygamy through a Western lens, rather than within the African cultural context where extended families coexist harmoniously.
Speaking about his upcoming music project, The Utterbox Project, Harrysong revealed that preparations are already underway and that fans can expect it early next year.
“The Utterbox studio was launched some weeks ago, and we have started the Album Masterclass and will be dropping the first quarter of next year. I want the fans to trust me,” he shared.
