Funke Akindele: Nollywood’s Bankable Filmmaker
Akindele’s continued success reinforces her position as Nollywood’s most bankable filmmaker. Her blockbuster hits A Tribe Called Judah, Everybody Loves Jenifa, and Behind The Scenes have all surpassed the ₦1 billion mark. A Tribe Called Judah set the stage as one of Nollywood’s earliest billion-naira films, while Everybody Loves Jenifa broke speed records in ticket sales. Behind The Scenes has carried that momentum seamlessly into 2026.
Other Holiday Releases Make Impact
Meanwhile, other holiday releases have also posted impressive figures. Toyin Abraham’s Oversabi Aunty has enjoyed a strong run into early 2026, grossing over ₦711 million in just 18 days at the Nigerian box office, as announced by her production team and confirmed by distributors.
