Davido has responded to his second consecutive loss in the Best African Music Performance category at the 68th Grammy Awards. The ceremony was held on February 2, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
Grammy Results and Nominees
The award was won by South African singer Tyla for her song Push 2 Start. Davido had been nominated for With You featuring Omah Lay.
Other nominees included Burna Boy for Love and Gimme Dat by Ayra Starr and Wizkid. The win marked Tyla’s second straight victory in the category following her success in 2025.
Post-Ceremony Reactions With Chioma
Davido attended the ceremony with his wife, Chioma. After the event, he shared photos on Instagram with the caption “Oluwa Dey my side”, a Pidgin phrase meaning “God is on my side”, accompanied by prayer and music emojis.

He later took to X to share a light-hearted exchange with his wife:
“I said baby listen we lost again let’s not go she said ‘Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat’ we outside,” he wrote.

Father’s Advice and Personal Reflections
A video later surfaced showing Davido speaking candidly about his Grammy loss. In the clip, he revealed advice from his father.
“My father told me no matter what happened at the Grammys, I’m still a legend,” Davido said.
He explained that his original dream was simply to have his music played on radio and television, noting that the journey has since grown far beyond that.
“I’m truly grateful to be recognised and nominated. I also do not care about the Grammy,” he added.
Silence From Fellow Nominees
While Davido publicly addressed the outcome, fellow Nigerian nominees Burna Boy and Ayra Starr have remained silent. Neither artiste has released a personal statement or shared reactions on social media following the ceremony.
