Bad Bunny has been named Spotify’s global top artiste for 2025.
His works, streamed 19.8 billion times in the year, led the yearly chart. Taylor Swift (17.4 billion streams) and The Weeknd (15.2 billion streams) came in second and third positions, respectively.
Bad Bunny has had a busy year. His Puerto Rico residency drew huge audiences and created steady traffic for local businesses. Hotels, restaurants, and transport services recorded significant boosts in revenue during the run, and analysts linked a sharp rise in visitor numbers directly to the residency’s pull.
The residency also strengthened Puerto Rico’s entertainment sector by attracting international tourism and expanding seasonal job opportunities in hospitality, production, and event staffing. Local officials described it as the island’s strongest cultural attraction of the year.
Bad Bunny’s selection as the Super Bowl LX Halftime Show headliner generated much debate across the United States. The President criticised Bad Bunny’s selection as the Super Bowl XL Halftime Show headliner, calling the decision “absolutely ridiculous” and claiming he had “never heard of him”. He questioned why organisers chose the Puerto Rican star, adding that the choice made no sense to him.
His album DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS led Spotify’s global album chart and maintained strong placements on Billboard after its early 2025 release.
Bad Bunny added to his dominant year with five wins at the 2025 Latin Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year for DEBÍ TIRAR MÁS FOTOS. He is also nominated for multiple Grammy Awards next year.
Bad Bunny’s combined impact across streaming, live entertainment, and major global events has positioned him as one of the most dominant figures in music this year.
