Atletico Madrid have completed the signing of Ademola Lookman from Atalanta in a deal worth £30.3 million. The 28-year-old forward has signed a contract that runs until June 2030.

Impressive Atalanta Record

Lookman joins Atletico after an outstanding spell in Serie A. He scored 55 goals and provided 27 assists in 137 appearances for Atalanta following his move from RB Leipzig in 2022.

His most iconic moment came in the 2024 Europa League final, where he struck a hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen to secure Atalanta’s first-ever European trophy.

Atletico Madrid Announcement

Confirming the signing on their website, Atletico said:

“Atlético de Madrid and Atalanta have agreed on the transfer of Ademola Lookman, who has signed for us until 30 June 2030. Our new signing passed his medical before signing his contract at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano. Welcome, Lookman!”

The club added that he arrives after:

“re-establishing himself as one of Europe’s most decisive attackers.”

Club Career Journey

Born in Wandsworth, London, Lookman began his career at Charlton Athletic before spells with Everton, RB Leipzig, Fulham, and Leicester City.

International Career and Honours

On the international stage, Lookman represented England at youth level and was part of the squad that won the 2017 FIFA Under-20 World Cup.

He later switched allegiance to Nigeria, making his senior debut for the Super Eagles in 2022. He has since earned 41 caps, scoring 11 goals.

In 2024, Lookman was named African Footballer of the Year and finished 14th on the Ballon d’Or shortlist, becoming the only African player nominated that year.
