Atalanta BC produced a stirring second-half fightback to defeat Chelsea FC 2–1 on Tuesday.
The London club took the lead in the 25th minute. João Pedro reacted quickly to a short corner from Reece James and swept a low cross past the Atalanta goalkeeper.
Atalanta looked shaken early but surged back after the break. In the 55th minute, Charles De Ketelaere delivered a neat cross into the box that freed Gianluca Scamacca. The striker rose above his marker to head home the equaliser.
Momentum swung firmly in Atalanta’s favour, and they sealed the win seven minutes before full-time. De Ketelaere fired a low shot from inside the area. Chelsea’s goalkeeper got a hand to it, but the rebound hit the roof of the net.
Atalanta are now third on the table with 13 points. Chelsea, meanwhile, are 11th with 10 points.
