UCL Man City Beat Real Madrid To Pile Pressure On Xavi Alonso

Manchester City staged a dramatic comeback to beat Real Madrid 2–1 at the Santiago Bernabéu on Wednesday.

The hosts looked in command after Rodrygo opened the scoring in the 28th minute with a low-driven finish. But City responded rapidly. Nico O’Reilly pounced on a spilled save from goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois to equalize in the 35th minute.

Just eight minutes later, City were awarded a penalty after a foul on Erling Haaland by defender Antonio Rüdiger. Haaland stepped up and coolly converted to put City ahead before the break.

In the second half, both sides created chances, but City held firm under pressure with Courtois making several good saves.

The victory lifts Manchester City to fourth place in the group with 13 points, giving them a strong chance of advancing to the knockout rounds. Real Madrid drop to seventh on 12 points, adding pressure on coach Xabi Alonso following a dip in form.

“It wasn’t enough, we go away very frustrated. We had a great first half, we wanted to start strong, we scored… we need to improve,” Rodrygo said post-match.
