The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, marked World Cancer Day on 4 February 2026 with a deeply personal message reflecting on her own cancer journey, including “moments of fear and exhaustion.”
Video Message Released By Kensington Palace
In a heartfelt video released by Kensington Palace, the Princess provided a voiceover over footage from her January 2025 visit to The Royal Marsden Hospital in London, where she received treatment.
During that visit, she announced that she was in remission, following her cancer diagnosis revealed in March 2024 and the completion of chemotherapy in September 2024.
Message Of Empathy And Solidarity
“On World Cancer Day, my thoughts are with everyone who is facing a cancer diagnosis, undergoing treatment or finding their way through recovery,” she said.
“Cancer touches so many lives not only patients, but the families and friends and caregivers who walk beside them.”
Acknowledging The Reality Of Recovery
Drawing from her own experience, the Princess highlighted the challenges of recovery and its unpredictable nature.
“As anyone who has experienced this journey will know, it’s not linear. There are moments of fear and exhaustion. But also moments of strength, kindness, and profound connection.”
Emphasis On Hope And Support
The message concluded with a note of encouragement and reassurance.
“Today is a reminder of the importance of care, understanding and hope. Please know you are not alone.”
Ongoing Cancer Advocacy Work
The video aligns with the Princess’s continued commitment to cancer advocacy. She and Prince William serve as joint patrons of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, supporting its work in cancer treatment, care, and research.
