The Los Angeles Lakers delivered a dominant road performance, cruising to a 142-111 victory over the Washington Wizards on Friday night in the U.S. capital.
Triple-Double Masterclass
Luka Dončić was at the heart of the win, posting a sensational triple-double of 37 points, 13 assists, and 11 rebounds. It marked his sixth triple-double of the season and underlined his growing influence since joining the Lakers.
Fast Start
Dončić showed no lingering effects from his recent injury scare and took control early. He reached a triple-double by halftime with 26 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds as Los Angeles surged to a 20-11 lead midway through the opening quarter and never relinquished control.
Balanced Support
DeAndre Ayton provided a dominant inside presence with 28 points and a game-high 13 rebounds, while LeBron James added 20 points and six assists. The Lakers shot an outstanding 61.2 per cent from the field, with Dončić, Ayton, and James all converting at least half of their attempts.
Runaway Victory
A 20-9 second-quarter burst pushed the lead to 28, before the advantage ballooned to as many as 38 points in the third quarter. The Lakers finished with their second-highest scoring output of the season.
Wizards Struggle
The loss ended Washington’s hopes of a third straight win following recent victories over Portland and Milwaukee. Malaki Branham led the Wizards with 17 points off the bench, while Alex Sarr contributed 16 points, six rebounds and five assists.
