Manchester City Players Refund Fans After Bodo Glimt Loss

Manchester City’s players have agreed to refund the ticket costs of 374 supporters who travelled to Norway for Tuesday’s shock 3–1 Champions League defeat to Bodo/Glimt. With away tickets priced at about £25, the squad will collectively reimburse £9,357 to fans.

Players Pay Tribute To Travelling Support

Speaking on behalf of the squad, City’s captaincy group of Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias, Rodri, and Erling Haaland paid tribute to the travelling supporters.

“Our supporters mean everything to us,” the players said, adding that the sacrifices fans make to follow the team “home and away” would “never be taken for granted.”

Acknowledging Conditions In Norway

The players also reflected on the circumstances surrounding the match, describing it as involving “a lot of travelling” and a “freezing cold” night that compounded a difficult performance on the pitch.

“Covering the cost of these tickets for the fans who travelled to Bodo is the least we can do,” the statement added.

Supporters’ Club Welcomes Gesture

The gesture was welcomed by Manchester City’s Official Supporters’ Club (OSC), despite limited calls from fans for compensation.

OSC representative Kevin Parker said City supporters “will travel to the ends of the earth to support our team,” describing Bodo as “not an easy place to get to” and praising the “incredible connection” between the players and the fans.

What It Means For City

The defeat ranks among the biggest upsets in Champions League history and leaves Manchester City needing a win in their final league-phase match against Galatasaray. Victory in that fixture would secure a top-eight finish.
