Crystal Palace have completed the signing of Welsh winger Brennan Johnson from Tottenham Hotspur in a club-record transfer reported to be worth around £37 million.
Deal Details and Manager’s Reaction
Johnson has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract at Selhurst Park. While Palace did not confirm the fee, British media say it is the most expensive signing in the club’s history.
Palace boss Oliver Glasner praised the club for moving quickly in the transfer window.
I’m really delighted that Brennan has joined the club. He gives us pace, goals and more attacking options. Credit to the club for making this happen early, Glasner said.
The 24-year-old was Tottenham’s top scorer last season with 18 goals in all competitions, including the Europa League final winner. This season, however, he struggled for consistent starts, making six Premier League starts and scoring four goals overall.
Career Background
Johnson joined Spurs from Nottingham Forest in 2023 for £47.5 million. He previously starred in Forest’s promotion campaign and has earned 42 caps for Wales, scoring seven times.
Palace chairman Steve Parish said the club believes Selhurst Park is the ideal environment for Johnson to thrive. His arrival boosts Palace’s attacking depth as they juggle domestic football and European competition this season.
