HipTV takes a look at some of the international artistes who performed in Nigeria this year.

John Legend: Move Afrika – Lagos (February 25)

John Legend’s Move Afrika: Lagos concert highlighted Nigeria’s growing appeal to established global stars. The show blended his classic soul hits with local collaborations, including Nigerian singer Simi, and also featured a DJ set from DJ Consequence.

Fans praised the intimate yet powerful performance, which drew a sold-out crowd at The Palms. Legend’s smooth vocals and stage presence reinforced Nigeria’s ability to host premium international concerts.

Juma Jux: Detty December Fest (December 18)

Tanzanian singer and Nigeria’s favourite son-in-law, Juma Jux, brought his Detty December Fest to Lagos with a high-energy Afro-fusion performance. Tickets for the show were sold out.

He opened with fan favourites such as “Ololufemi,” “God Design,” “Si Mimi,” and “Sheila.” The night peaked when fellow Tanzanian star Diamond Platnumz made a surprise appearance, performing their collaboration “Enjoy” and later treating fans to hits like “Comment Ça Va” and “Shu.”

Nigerian stars, including Phyno, Qing Madi, and Broda Shaggi, also appeared, keeping the crowd fully engaged throughout the night.

Busta Rhymes: Detty December Fest (December 19)

American rapper Busta Rhymes returned to Nigeria after 15 years as a headliner at the Detty December Fest held at Ilubirin, Ikoyi. The show was completely sold out, reflecting the excitement surrounding his comeback.

His performance was high-octane, mixing fast-paced rap hits with interactive crowd moments. Midway through his set, Busta Rhymes delivered an emotional speech, saying:

Even though it took 15 years, we are home. This trip was special to me because it wasn’t just about a show.

He also spoke about plans to settle in Nigeria, a moment that thrilled fans and sparked widespread reactions on social media.

Central Cee: Flytime Fest / Rhythm Unplugged (December 21)

UK rapper Central Cee co-headlined Flytime Fest, showcasing the growing influence of Nigerian audiences on international hip-hop acts. His set blended UK drill with Afrobeat-inspired rhythms, connecting strongly with Nigeria’s youth and the festival crowd.

Gunna: The Last Wun Tour (December 29)

Gunna’s Lagos concert formed part of his Wun World Tour, the global headline tour supporting his latest album The Last Wun. The show further highlighted Nigeria’s importance on the international touring circuit.
