Actress and film producer Yvonne Jegede celebrated her 20th anniversary in Nollywood on the 30th of December at the Jewel Aeida Event Centre, Lekki, Lagos. Colleagues, family, friends and loved ones all gathered to celebrate the renowned actress on her special day.
Emceed by media personality, Riyah Abdul, the event opened with short remarks from guests. Jedgede dressed in an overflowing black and white gown then acknowledged people who helped shape her career. She particularly acknowledged film director, producer and actor Charles Novia who gave her her first ever movie role.
The event also featured performances from artistes such as MKiddo, Minjin, and a surprise performance from Orezi.
Speaking with HipTV, Yvonne Jegede said that her emotions were all over the place because the celebration wasn’t exactly planned, but turned out great. She said: “It’s not just a party; it’s empowerment, it’s giving back to society…”
Her best friend and manager Eseyoma Sodje said that although they only started working together two months ago,their friendship spans 15 years. She commended Jegede for her commitment of two decades in the movie industry, and said she looks forward to another 20-year milestone.
Actor Mike Ezuruonye said he attended to honor Jegede as an icon in her own space and to applaud her growth. He stressed that 20 years is no small feat.
