Odunlade Adekola’s Warlord (Olori Ogun) premiered at Filmhouse Cinemas IMAX, Lekki, Lagos, on 26 November.
The Yoruba language movie, subtitled in English, follows the story of a powerful ruler and the conflicts around his despotic rule over his kingdom.
Odunlade Adekola plays the lead role of Ogundi, the warlord. Muyiwa Ademola plays Adeyiga, the king. Fathia Balogun plays Olori Iteade. Ireti Osayemi plays Olori Oyedunni. Other leading cast members are Femi Adebayo, Adenike Hamzat, Biola Adebayo, and Ibrahim Chatta.
Odunlade Adekola spoke with HipTV about the release and expressed excitement as he said,
“Today is the premiere of Warlord, Olori Ogun, produced by me and directed by 4 wonderful directors. You are going to enjoy this wonderful movie, which will be in all cinemas from November 28th. Don’t miss it; you’ll love it.”
The well-attended event was graced by cast members, producers, leading entertainers, friends, and family who highlighted their expectations for the project:
Muyiwa Ademola, King Adeyiga, in the movie, linked his excitement to the feedback he received during production. He added that he looked forward to seeing his portrayal of the tyrant king.
Ireti Osayemi, who plays Olori Oyedunni, expressed eagerness at seeing the movie in its completed form. She expressed interest in seeing how the various parts of the project came together.
Actress and filmmaker Bisola Aiyeola said the gathering gave off vibes of an “owanbe” event and praised the colourful outfits donned by attendees. She encouraged viewers to see the film and said her expectations of it were high.
Iyabo Ojo said, “I’m here to support my friend, my brother, my personal person, Odunlade Adekola. It’s his movie premiere, and we have to show support.”
