Pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter is taking centre stage as she stars in and produces a new Alice in Wonderland musical film for Universal Pictures. The long-awaited project is finally moving forward, with filmmaker Lorene Scafaria writing and directing the reimagined version.
The film is coming five years after Carpenter first announced the idea under her production company, “At Last Productions”. The earlier plan developed for Netflix was described as a modern retelling set at a music festival called “Wonderland”. Universal’s new version is taking a different creative direction, with storyline details yet to be revealed.
Carpenter is continuing her rise as one of today’s most dynamic entertainers. Her albums Short n’ Sweet and Man’s Best Friend topped the Billboard 200 in 2024 and 2025 and earned her two Grammy Awards and global acclaim.
She has appeared in Work It, Tall Girl, The Hate U Give, and Clouds. She first gained attention on Disney Channel’s Girl Meets World, where she began her screen journey.
The upcoming musical is being produced by Marc Platt, with Leslie Morgenstein and Elysa Koplovitz Dutton joining as co-producers.
