Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu has rewarded Super Falcons defender Miracle Usani with ₦50 million in cash, a plot of land in Calabar, and a role as the state’s Sports Ambassador following Nigeria’s 2025 WAFCON triumph.

Speaking at a reception held in his official office in Calabar, Governor Otu praised Usani’s dedication and influence. “We have approved ₦50 million and a plot of land in Calabar for you. You are now on our VVIP protocol list and will serve as Sports Ambassador of Cross River State,” he declared.

Otu added that her feats have inspired pride in the state and nation. “You’ve shown that what a man can do, a woman can do even better. You are a symbol of excellence and resilience.”

Usani, who plays for Edo Queens FC and hails from Yakurr, expressed sincere gratitude, “My journey wasn’t easy… I played football with boys because there were no female teams where I grew up,” she said.

The governor also committed to strengthening the state’s sporting infrastructure and promised more support for grassroots development. He urged young people across Cross River to see Usani’s reward as proof that hard work in sport can yield national recognition.
