West Ham United overturned an early deficit to beat Newcastle United 3–1 at the London Stadium.
Newcastle took the lead in the 4th minute through Jacob Murphy, finishing off a quick counter. West Ham responded with growing pressure.
West Ham had a penalty appeal overturned by VAR in the 14th minute.
Lucas Paquetá equalised in the 35th minute with a dipping drive. Just before half-time, Sven Botman turned the ball into his own net, giving the hosts a 2–1 lead.
Tomas Soucek sealed the win in stoppage time by bundling home a loose ball.
This win is West Ham’s first home league victory since February. It is also their first win under manager Nuno Espírito Santo.
With the result, West Ham climbed to 18th place with seven points. Newcastle are 13th, five points ahead.
