The Minnesota Timberwolves secured a 122-111 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night in Minneapolis. Anthony Edwards delivered a standout performance with 40 points on 16-for-30 shooting, helping Minnesota extend its winning streak to three games. Dallas, meanwhile, slumped to its 10th consecutive defeat.
Strong First Half Sets The Tone
Rudy Gobert recorded a double-double with 22 points and 17 rebounds, while Naz Reid added 21 points off the bench and Julius Randle contributed 13.
Minnesota led 69-57 at halftime after racing to a 40-25 advantage at the end of the first quarter, sparked by three early three-pointers from Donte DiVincenzo.
Mavericks Rally Falls Short
Dallas mounted a comeback in the fourth quarter, using a 12-2 run to tie the game at 103 with 6:55 remaining before later cutting the deficit to four. Khris Middleton led the Mavericks with 18 points, while Naji Marshall and Marvin Bagley III added 15 points apiece. The Mavericks were without rookie Cooper Flagg, who was sidelined with a sprained foot that also kept him out of All-Star weekend.
Edwards Closes The Game
Edwards steadied Minnesota down the stretch, scoring seven points in the final 2:27 on a floater, a pull-up jumper, and a three-pointer from the left corner. The Timberwolves closed the game on an 11-4 run to seal the victory.
Gobert Faces Possible Suspension
A flagrant foul overshadowed Gobert’s strong performance after striking Bagley while battling for a rebound in the second quarter. The call pushed him over the season limit for flagrant fouls, triggering a suspension for Sunday’s home game against the Philadelphia 76ers unless the league downgrades the violation upon review.
