Nigeria’s Super Eagles have surged to 26th place in the latest FIFA World Ranking released on Monday, climbing 12 spots after an impressive run at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Guided by head coach Eric Chelle, Nigeria won six of their seven matches at the tournament. Their only setback came in the semi-finals, where they were narrowly beaten by hosts Morocco on penalties after a tense encounter.
Strong Finish and Biggest Points Gain
The Super Eagles responded emphatically in the third-place playoff, defeating Egypt 4–2 to claim the bronze medal. The victory capped a strong campaign and underlined Nigeria’s consistency throughout the competition.
Nigeria recorded the highest points increase in the latest update, gaining +79.09 ranking points. Despite the reshuffle below them, Spain, Argentina, and France retained the top three positions globally.
African Standings
Morocco remains Africa’s highest-ranked nation in eighth place worldwide, followed by Senegal in 12th. Nigeria now sit third on the continent, their rise reflecting a renewed momentum ahead of upcoming international fixtures.
