Nigerian Celebrities React as Super Eagles Exit AFCON 2025

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have bowed out of the AFCON 2025 title race following a 4–2 penalty shootout defeat to hosts Morocco in the semi-finals. The match ended 0–0 after regulation time and extra time, before Morocco sealed victory on penalties.

The loss sparked widespread reactions across Nigeria, with fans and celebrities sharing mixed emotions about the team’s performance and the broader state of Nigerian football.

MC Lively, Iyanya, Bovi, and Speed Darlington Share Reactions

Comedian and content creator MC Lively delivered a blunt and humorous reaction that quickly gained traction online. Expressing frustration laced with sarcasm, he said:

“All of us Nigeria fans we can not be more than 20. I am happy we don’t win because they will beat us.”

Singer Iyanya reacted via his X (formerly Twitter) account, praising the Super Eagles while raising concerns about the final. He wrote:

Comedian Bovi offered a more emotional and patriotic response, highlighting football as one of the few unifying forces in the country.

“Football is the only thing that brings Nigeria together.”
he said, adding:
“Don’t come to the Super Eagles if you’re not ready to die for the nation.”

Bovi also touched on long-standing administrative issues, urging players to prioritise national pride over financial disputes with football authorities.

“If the NFF don’t pay you your money, let it go,”
he said, reigniting public debate around player welfare and football governance.

In contrast, entertainer Speed Darlington openly celebrated Nigeria’s elimination. In a politically charged post on X, he wrote:
