Netflix has released the official trailer for Stranger Things Season Five, Volume Two. The trailer was released ahead of the show’s concluding episodes, which will complete the long-running story set in Hawkins.
The trailer shows the group facing renewed danger linked to the Upside Down. Dustin appears injured and says everything they believed about the Upside Down has changed. Will Byers tells Joyce, “We failed. We never stood a chance.” Joyce responds, “It’s not over. Not by a long shot.”
Vecna is also featured in the trailer, where he declares it is time for a “new world”. The footage highlights escalating threats as the characters attempt to stop his plans before irreversible damage occurs in Hawkins.
Volume Two of Stranger Things Season Five will be released on 25 December, with three episodes arriving on Christmas Day. The final episode of the series will be released on 31 December, officially ending the show. The first four episodes of Season Five were released earlier as Volume One.
The trailer’s focus on Will links directly to events that began in Season One, when he was taken into the Upside Down. That incident created his lasting connection to the dimension, which continues to influence current events in the final season.
Co-creator Ross Duffer said, “We’ve always known that Will has a connection to Vecna and the Upside Down.” He added, “If anyone was going to be the key to ending Vecna, it needed to be Will.” Gaten Matarazzo said Will’s abilities will “change the game”, while Finn Wolfhard stated, “We have two Elevens.”
