UK-based Nigerian sister trio SHiiKANE made up of Nkem, Ifeanyi Chukwu, and Uche, continue to prove that sisterhood, purpose, and passion remain at the heart of their journey in music.

Speaking to HipTV, the group opened up about their foundation, Anthonia’s Women and Children Foundation (AWACF), which was named in honour of their late mother.

“Our foundation is called Anthonia, named after our mum because she was such a giver,” they shared.

“Through it, we support causes related to sickle cell anaemia and promote women’s hygiene, especially in underprivileged communities in the UK and Nigeria. Our message is simple: to empower the girl child.”

When asked about the secret behind their unity and longevity as a group, SHiiKANE said their bond as sisters keeps them grounded both in and out of music.

“Our secret is family. We make money in other ways and have other businesses. We’re sisters, we’re family, and we share one united vision,” they said.

The trio also revealed five artists they would love to collaborate with, hinting that fans can expect some exciting partnerships soon.

On the challenges of being a female group in a male-dominated industry, SHiiKANE admitted that it hasn’t always been easy.

“One of the challenges we face as a female group is getting on live shows, and as women, we constantly have to protect ourselves while staying professional,” they explained.

SHiiKANE also shared news of their new EP and an upcoming London tour set to run from January to December, promising fresh sounds and high-energy performances.
