San Antonio Spurs Beat NBA Champions OKC To Advance To Cup Final

Victor Wembanyama led the San Antonio Spurs to a dramatic 111-109 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA Cup semifinals. Wembanyama, who just returned from a calf injury, helped the Spurs end Thunder’s franchise-record 16-game winning streak.

Wembanyama, who had missed 12 games, scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds, including 15 of his points in the fourth quarter. San Antonio rallied past the reigning NBA champions in a tense finish at the T-Mobile Arena. Spurs teammate Devin Vassell scored 23, and both De’Aaron Fox and Stephon Castle contributed 22 points apiece.

Oklahoma City came into the contest with just one loss all season, but the Spurs overturned a second-half deficit to secure the upset. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with 29 points, while Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren added 17 each.

The defining moment came in the final seconds as San Antonio maintained a narrow lead, with clutch free throws from Castle and Vassell helping the Spurs hold firm. The Thunder tried but could not make a comeback.

San Antonio will face the New York Knicks in the NBA Cup final on Tuesday night, after the Knicks advanced with their own semifinal win.
