AS Roma surged to the top of the Serie A table after a 3–1 away win over Cremonese on Sunday.
Matías Soulé opened the scoring in the 17th minute with a sharp finish from the edge of the box. Irish striker Evan Ferguson, introduced in the 60th minute, ended his 13-month goal drought just four minutes later, calmly slotting home his first goal for Roma.
Wesley França sealed the victory in the 69th minute after a well-crafted move, putting the result beyond doubt. Cremonese pulled one back in stoppage time through a late header by Francesco Folino.
Ferguson expressed relief after the match. “It’s a beautiful moment that I’d been waiting for a long time … there have been many ups and downs but now I want to make the most of this positive moment.”
Roma now lead the league with 27 points, two ahead of Napoli.
