Tennis legend Roger Federer has been elected to the International Tennis Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility, the ITHF announced on Wednesday.
The induction celebration is scheduled for August 2026 in Newport, Rhode Island.
Federer, who retired in 2022, ended his career with 20 Grand Slam titles and 103 tour-level titles. He also held the world No. 1 ranking for 237 consecutive weeks, and 310 weeks in total.
In a statement, Federer said: “It’s a tremendous honor … to stand alongside so many of the game’s great champions … to be recognized … by my peers is deeply humbling.” He added that he has always “valued the history of tennis” and looks forward to celebrating with the tennis community in Newport.
The Class of 2026 will also include Mary Carillo, a prominent TV broadcaster and journalist, who is being inducted in the contributor category.
