Rapper Ray J was arrested early Thursday morning after police responded to a domestic disturbance at his Los Angeles home. Police say officers were called shortly after midnight following a report of possible domestic violence involving a firearm.
Events leading to the arrest began after Ray J went on a livestream with a handgun visible on a table beside him. In the same broadcast, he was seen picking up the weapon while arguing with someone off-camera. During that moment, he issued several warnings, including, “I’ll shoot you,” “I’ll kill you,” and “Get out of my house before I shoot you right now.”
Moments later, his estranged wife, Princess Love, appeared in the livestream and said she was taking their two children and leaving the home. She accused Ray J of pointing the gun at her and their daughter. Ray J denied the accusation, saying, “I didn’t point nothing at you,” and claimed he was only trying to protect his home.
Police arrived, separated the pair, and interviewed them individually. Ray J was taken into custody. As of Thursday afternoon, no formal charges had been filed, and booking details, including bail information, had not been released.
Officers say the investigation is ongoing, and detectives are reviewing the livestream and additional statements. Love has not issued a public comment beyond what appeared in the broadcast.
Ray J and Princess Love have a history of public disputes during their marriage, which began in 2016. They have filed for divorce multiple times, with Love’s most recent filing submitted in February 2024. Court records show she requested joint legal and physical custody of their children, as well as spousal support.
Police say further updates will be released once the case advances and any charges are determined.
