American singer and rapper Post Malone is facing a lawsuit filed by his former driver.
According to court documents, the driver, Larry Deuel, alleges that Malone and his collaborator Tyla Yaweh invited him to Post Malone’s ranch in 2020. He says he was asked to take part in the music video for “Tommy Lee” and was promised he would be “taken care of” financially.
Deuel states that he interpreted the promise as an agreement for payment. During the video shoot, he reportedly appeared in multiple scenes performing various tasks, including unrolling a carpet, opening doors, and standing beside his limousine throughout the recording.
The lawsuit claims Malone and Yaweh failed to compensate him for his participation. Deuel, who works as both a teacher and limousine driver, says the experience left him feeling exploited after being led to believe he would be rewarded for his time and appearance.
Deuel is now suing Post Malone and others involved in the production, demanding at least $2.5 million in principal damages and a further $7.5 million in punitive damages. The case has sparked attention due to its unusual nature and the size of the compensation requested. Legal representatives for Malone and Yaweh have not publicly responded to the claims as of the time of filing, and the court is yet to fix a date for the hearing.
