Meek Mill was briefly detained and handcuffed by New York City Police Department officers (NYPD) early Saturday. The incident occurred shortly near Harbor NYC, a Manhattan nightclub located near West 46th Street and 12th Avenue.
Police were initially responding to a report of a man with a firearm in the area. Officers stopped a vehicle matching a description and license plate provided in the witness tip.
An NYPD spokesperson confirmed that officers acted on the firearm call, but after searching the vehicle, no firearm was recovered. The 38-year-old artiste and two other men who were in the car were subsequently released without any arrests or charges being filed.
Video footage of the encounter, circulating online, shows Mill standing with his hands cuffed behind his back, surrounded by officers. The Grammy-nominated rapper addressed the stop on social media platform X.
Writing on his account, Mill stated: “They just pulled me out the car and cuffed me in front of the whole club in nyc! I’m not scared to go outside without a gun… they had guns in my face for no reason smh.”
Mill, known for his activism in criminal justice reform, co-founded the REFORM Alliance. He has a previous legal history, including a 2008 conviction for drug and weapons charges. No further details from authorities or Mill’s representatives have been released as of November 3, 2025.
