Playboi Carti has been charged with misdemeanor assault following a fight in Park City, Utah. The incident occurred while Carti was on his way to a rehearsal for his tour.
Police records indicate the fight on October 9, 2025, was between Carti, whose actual name is Jordan Carter, and limousine driver Carl Reynolds, whom he purportedly attacked. Police indicate that Carti may have threatened to hurt a second driver, Lance Hayes.
Reynolds claimed Carti punched him in the face. Police dispatch audio revealed Carti threatened to “hit and shoot” Hayes before fleeing the scene in a vehicle. Police shortly located Carti nearby and charged him with the assault of Reynolds. No charges has been filed for the alleged threat against the second driver.
Carti is scheduled to appear in court in December 2025 to answer the misdemeanor assault charges.
This incident is one of several ruins the rapper has had with the law in previous times. Carti was found guilty in the UK in 2019 for assaulting a tour bus driver. In 2020, he was arrested on drug and gun possession charges, and in 2022, he was charged with felony aggravated assault in Georgia after a domestic dispute.
Playboi Carti is now touring. The rapper or his lawyers have not issued a statement about what happened in Utah.
