The Nigeria Football Federation has announced a N1 million fine for clubs that fail to honour matches in the national preliminary stage of the 2026 President Federation Cup.
Sanctions for Failure to Honour Matches
In a statement released on Monday, the federation said teams that register for the competition but fail to appear for matches during the state preliminary rounds will face sanctions. The directive was confirmed by Ruth David.
“Any club that fails to show up for any match after concluding registration for the competition at the state level will be made to pay the sum of N500,000,” the statement said.
The federation added that clubs that fail to honour matches in the national preliminary stage will be fined N1 million.
Schedule for State Preliminary Rounds
The state preliminary rounds of the competition will take place between March 22 and April 26 across the country.
State finals must be played on either April 25 or April 26, after which football associations from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory will submit the names of two representatives each for the national competition.
