Diddy’s life, career, and recent legal issues take centre stage in a new Netflix documentary arriving on 2 December. The four-part series, titled Sean Combs: The Reckoning, is led by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and director Alexandria Stapleton. The project examines Diddy’s long presence in entertainment and the major events that shaped his public image.
The series follows Diddy’s rise through Bad Boy Entertainment, where he pushed hip-hop into the mainstream. It highlights his work with artistes like The Notorious B.I.G., Mary J. Blige, Jodeci, and Danity Kane. The documentary also reports his July conviction on two counts of transportation for purposes of prostitution. Diddy is serving a federal prison sentence and has appealed both the conviction and the sentence.
The production uses interviews from people who knew him at different stages of his life. Former Bad Boy rapper Mark Curry features in the teaser, supported by childhood friends, former staff, and artists who worked with Diddy.
Stapleton explains why Ventura’s case shaped her approach to the project. “When Cassie dropped her lawsuit, I just thought this could go a million different directions,” she said. She added that she wanted to understand how the public reacts when major figures face serious allegations.
50 Cent discusses his role in shaping the series through G-Unit Film and Television. “I’m grateful to everyone who came forward and trusted us with their stories,” he said. He credited Stapleton for directing the project and guiding the structure used throughout the documentary.
The documentary includes previously unseen material and exclusive interviews. It outlines Diddy’s rise, the empire he built, and the behaviour questioned later in his career.
