Striker Morgan Rogers scored twice as Aston Villa came from behind to beat Leeds United 2-1 at Elland Road on Sunday, moving into the Premier League’s top four.
Leeds took the lead in the 8th minute when Lukas Nmecha poked home after a high ball dropped in the box. Villa, meanwhile, responded early in the second half; Donyell Malen’s cross set up Rogers, who steered in the equaliser three minutes after the break.
The winner came in the 75th minute when Rogers curled a free kick from the edge of the area over the wall and into the net, earning Villa the decisive edge.
The result lifts Villa to 21 points, while Leeds remain in the relegation zone after their fifth defeat in six matches.
For Villa boss Unai Emery the win marks a continuation of the team’s recent strong run, with six victories in their last seven league outings.
