Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ Sets New Record

Michael Jackson has become the first artiste to record top ten entries on the Billboard Hot 100 in six separate decades. His 1982 single Thriller returned to number ten on the chart dated November 15, 2025, more than forty years after its initial release.

The song’s renewed popularity followed the Halloween period, when Thriller traditionally draws increased attention across streaming services, radio playlists, and social media. During the tracking week ending 6 November, Thriller logged 14 million official streams, up 57%, and a radio audience of 9.3 million, up 124%. It also sold about 3000 copies in the United States.

Jackson first entered the Hot 100 top ten as a solo artiste in November 1971 with Got to Be There. Throughout his career, he achieved 30 top ten hits and 13 number one singles, including Billie Jean, Beat It, and Black or White.

The new record places Jackson ahead of the late Andy Williams, who registered top ten placements in five decades.

Thriller has now become Jackson’s longest-running Hot 100 entry, at 26 weeks on the chart, due to the track’s sustained popularity.
