Manchester United came from behind to beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at Selhurst Park on Sunday. This result hands Palace their first home league defeat since February.

Palace had taken the lead in the 36th minute when Jean-Philippe Mateta converted a penalty following a foul by Leny Yoro. After a VAR check required a retake due to a double-touch, Mateta calmly converted the spot-kick again to give the hosts a halftime lead.

United responded after the break. Joshua Zirkzee equalised in the 54th minute, powering home a low strike from a free kick’s rebound.  The goal was his first Premier League goal in nearly a year.

Just nine minutes later, Mason Mount fired a low drive into Palace’s crowded defence after a free kick delivery, to give United the lead.

United manager Rúben Amorim said after the match “We have more intensity in the second half, we played better in the second half, and the opponent too in the second half was more tired,” Amorim said. “So these small details will make the difference, and then the talent in front, we scored two.”

The win lifts United into seventh place with 21 points. For Palace, the result ends a nine-month unbeaten run at home and leaves them in ninth on 20 points.
