Manchester City Lose Ground After 2-2 Draw at Tottenham

Manchester City were held to a dramatic 2-2 draw by Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. The result left City six points adrift of Premier League leaders Arsenal.

First-Half Control Puts City in Charge

City dominated the first half and looked set for victory after goals from Rayan Cherki and Antoine Semenyo put them in control.

Cherki opened the scoring in the 11th minute after Erling Haaland slipped him through on goal. Semenyo doubled the lead later in the half following a poor clearance by Radu Dragusin, prompting boos from the home crowd as Tottenham headed into the break.

Solanke Leads Tottenham Comeback

Tottenham emerged transformed after the interval and reduced the deficit in the 53rd minute. Dominic Solanke showed strength and composure to finish from close range under pressure.

The equaliser arrived 17 minutes later in spectacular fashion. Solanke improvised acrobatically, flicking Conor Gallagher’s cross over his head with a scorpion-like heel finish that looped beyond Gianluigi Donnarumma.

“I had to improvise a bit, I love those finishes, trying to make something out of nothing,” Solanke said. “I had to have a few looks at the big screen after.”

League Table Impact

The draw was City’s fourth in their last six league games. They remain second on 47 points from 24 matches, six behind Arsenal.

Tottenham sit 14th in the table with 29 points.
