Manchester City have agreed a deal in principle to sign Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi for a reported £20 million.
Transfer Close to Completion
Personal terms are yet to be finalised, but are not expected to delay the move. City have already been active in the transfer window, completing the £62.5 million signing of Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth.
Glasner Confirms Defender’s Exit
Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner confirmed that Guehi will leave the club once the transfer is completed. He also revealed that the defender will not feature in Palace’s upcoming match against Sunderland.
“My understanding is the deal with Marc is in the final stages,” Glasner said, adding that the move had “zero impact” on his own decision to leave the club when his contract expires in June.
Guardiola Declines Comment
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola refused to comment on the deal, stating there was “nothing to say” when questioned on Friday.
Glasner, however, acknowledged Palace’s position:
“Once a player wants to move on, a deal will happen,” he said.
Key Figure for Palace
Guehi has been a central figure at Crystal Palace since joining from Chelsea in 2021. He captained the club to an FA Cup final against Manchester City and led Palace to a Community Shield victory over Liverpool.
